Art Challenge: Week of Jan 26th- Feb 1st 2010

Welcome to week 2 of our fun weekly sketch challenge. Anyone can participate and you have to turn your sketch in by the due date listed above. Simply post the sketch in this thread and we can all critique it and praise your work!!


This weeks Sketch Challenge is !!! BASIC ANATOMY !!!

Its a skill too often overlooked by young tallent looking to make a mark in the comic book field. You have to understand the basics of anatomy.

In this weeks challenge please draw a strait forward shot, like you are looking directly at the person, of a man in swim trunks, and a woman in a swimsuit. So we can see your skill. Please try to draw them as an average, normal person. No sylicone or steroids okay? That is why these are CHALLENGES!

note: if you feel ambitious and want to do more then one body type go for it. Just remember to turn in your 'normal' looking person first.

even though im not submitting anything, do they have to be human? i mean are elves or like a blue person allowed?

otherwise you can make up any anatomy which would defeat the purpose, no?

I think it's a brilliant idea for a challenge! Too many comic artists forget how important the fundamentals of art are.

No worries though, we'll have some challenges coming where you can do elves and blue people. lol

well i mean Spock isn't human and a lot of races of Star Trek aren't but they still follow the same human anatomy structure, that's all meant.

I might sketch something up tonite for this. Could definitely use the practice.
